June 5, 1935 – October 9, 2020
Warren was born on June 5, 1935, in Oshkosh, WI to William and Alma McKay. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI where he was also later confirmed in the faith. He married Connie Anderson on April 18, 1959, also at Grace Lutheran Church. The Lord blessed their marriage with two children: Scott William McKay and Carrie Lee Mills.
Warren worked in Milwaukee as a telephone equipment installer for Western Electric for 30 years. He retired in 1986. Warren and Connie moved to Tucson in 1987, where he began his second career as a self-employed handyman.
Throughout the years, Warren served the Lord in various capacities at the churches where he and Connie were members. He served on the council and as assistant treasurer at Grace in Milwaukee, on the council and as treasurer at Peace in Tucson, and as a general, all-around fixer-upper at Redeemer. His church was always important to him. He especially enjoyed helping the teachers and secretaries at Redeemer with anything they needed.
Warren’s greatest enjoyment was working with his antique engines. He was an active member of the “Power from the Past” engine club in Tucson. He enjoyed the shows and demonstrations they provided to the people of Southern Arizona.
Warren and Connie loved to travel. They visited England, Scotland, and Spain with their son, Scott. They traveled to Hawaii and drove to Alaska. They put on many miles, traveling around the country with their 5th wheel to visit their daughter, Carrie, and her family, in addition to visiting museums, presidential libraries, and national parks.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Scott. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Connie; his daughter, Carrie, her husband, Timothy Mills, and their children, Alexander and Emmalee. He will be missed by his family and numerous friends. We thank God for all the love shown to our family during Warren’s treatment and hospice care for cancer. Our church family has made this difficult time as positive as possible, and we are grateful to you.
Warren will be interned in the columbarium at Redeemer.
The family requests memorials be given to the charity of your choice, Redeemer Lutheran Church, or Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.
