Barbara Chaffin (Wyzykowski) of Horseshoe Bay, TX and Dellwood, MN passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022, with family by her side. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Tom, and her children, Richard O'Connor, Jennifer O’Connor (Sierk), Lori Jordan (Taylor), and David Chaffin (Jan); her grandchildren: Ryan, Kate, Kaly, Sophie, and Atticus; brothers: James Wyzykowski (Mary), Thomas Wyzykowski (Kristina), and Richard Wyzykowski (Tanja), as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents: Adolph and Charlotte Wyzykowski, and sisters: Judith Anthes and Cynthia Rosenthal.
Barbara grew up in St. Paul, MN and was one of 6 children. She met Tom Chaffin while working at 3M and through his work spent time living abroad in Tokyo, Japan, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Brussels, Belgium, before returning home and settling in Dellwood, MN. Later in life, she and Tom became residents of the state of Texas, but always returned back to Minnesota to enjoy the summer weather.
Barbara’s commitment to Christ was evident in her passionate study of the Bible and unwavering belief in God. She was a perfectionist in the kitchen and in life. She enjoyed cooking delicious tasting food in a way so that it was reproducible for others to do the same. Barbara loved to put her mark (a tag: “Made Especially for you by Mom/Bella”) on items she would design and make by hand including blankets, dresses, cushions and curtains. She had high expectations of herself and those around her. As evidence of this, in her academic endeavors, she had a 4.0 GPA. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
