Barbara Madden

Mrs. Barbara Barron Madden, 93, of Meadow Lakes, Texas, formerly of Ironton, Ohio, passed away January 2, 2023. Mrs. Madden was the wife of Frederick Jerome Madden who preceded her in death. They married in Jan 29, 1951 in Ironton, Ohio. She was born June 8, 1929 to Mr. Kenneth Barron and Margaret Hoertel Barron Unrue and her late sister was Mary Margaret Bayert. Also preceding her in death, were her husband’s parents Mr. and Mrs. John Madden, brother-in-law Thomas Madden, and wife Janet.

Her surviving children are Kathleen Meador and husband Steven, Dr. Kenneth Madden and wife Sandra, Margaret Madden and husband Kenneth Bosna, Patricia Elliott and husband Timothy, Bridget Madden and partner David Garcia, John Madden and wife Pam, Christopher Madden and wife Constance.

Grandchildren are Nicole Meador Scott and husband Adam, Brooke Mezger and husband Mark, Suzanne Hawkins and husband Michael, and Kathleen Meador, Jason Elliott and wife Tracy, Sean Elliott, Rebecca Elliott and Rachel Elliott Kakos and husband Aaron , Michael Madden , Jenny Madden, Patrick Madden, Trevor Madden, Colin Madden and Pumarie Madden, and Jesse Sharpless and husband Neal, and Logan Madden, In addition, she had nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and her brother-in-law Dr. Michael Madden and wife Karen.

Mrs. Madden was a 1947 graduate of Ironton’s St. Joseph high school and Cincinnati’s Good Samaritan school of nursing in 1950. She worked as a registered nurse for many years and lived in several cities during her husband’s employment by Ashland Oil. They retired to their home in the “hill country” of Texas, partly due to the fact it resembled Lawrence County; the area in which both grew up. She had a keen interest in genealogy and gardening and enjoyed their grandchildren’s activities.

A Memorial Mass will be offered 10a.m. on January 21, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Marble Falls, Texas.
