

her family. Beatrice was born in Liberty Hill, Texas on January 25, 1933 to Melvin and Bessie
Floyd. Beatrice grew up on a farm not far from the South San Gabriel River.
Beatrice is preceded in death by her husband, Toby Smith, son, Gary Smith, parents, Melvin
and Bessie Floyd, brother, AJ Floyd, sister, Christine and husband Chick Rollins, brother in
law Kenneth Holden and brother, Leon Floyd.
Beatrice met her husband, Toby Smith, in Liberty Hill and they were married on September 10,
1949. In the summer of 1955, they moved to Marble Falls, Texas where Bea became a cook in
many of the local cafes. Bea became well known for her homemade pies which were featured
when she worked in Horseshoe Bay. But her favorite place of work was at Atwood's in Marble
Falls—known for the "best enchiladas in town".
Beatrice is survived by her son, Gaylon Smith of Granite Shoals, daughter, Nita Williams and
husband Doyle of Granite Shoals, Texas, daughter in law Becky Smith of Odem, Texas, son,
Douglas Smith and wife, Alma of Granite Shoals, Texas and sister Amanda Holden. Beatrice
leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Alex, Victor, Braden, Angle, Todd, William, Dephna, Shanon,
Jason, Mandy, and Cerzia plus 33 great grandchildren along with many friends and loved ones.
Visitation will be at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls, Tx on Tuesday, April 4,
2023 from 5pm to 7pm. Graveside service will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11am at the
Marble Falls City Cemetery.
