He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Stockton) Severn to whom they were married for 14 days short of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Together they raised a blended family of 4 children; son, Dan H Severn, Jr. and wife Karen (Weyel) Severn of Caldwell, Texas, daughter Suzanne (Severn) Wolff of Austin, son Larry Hodon Jr. and wife Jeanette (Rutledge) Hodon of Converse, Texas and Lori Ann (Hodon) Post and husband Scotty of Shady Point, Oklahoma.
Dan and Nancy were blessed with 6 beautiful grandchildren; Dan H Severn, III, Paige and Paden Wolff, Lee and Layton Little and David Pape.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brother, Billy John Severn and sister Anne Severn Cooke.
Dan Served in the Army and received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. When he returned back to the states, he took over the family business, Humble Bulk Station in Buda that his mother had run since the passing of Eugene in 1936. Dan made a comfortable life for his family working in the fuel industry.
Dan was involved with the communities he lived in. In Buda, he served on the Buda School Board and was a member of the Buda VFD. In Austin, he was a member of the Sertoma Club. In 1982, Dan and Nancy bought the Exxon Distribution Plant in Kingsville, Texas and there he served on the Country Club Board and was named Kingsville Businessman of the year in 1990. Dan was instrumental in getting the first McDonalds in a service station in Robstown, Texas. In 2002, Dan and Nancy moved to beautiful Meadowlakes, Texas and enjoyed their retirement years traveling and relaxing on the back porch sitting in the swing and watching the squirrels and birds in their back yard.
Dan had many hobbies. The ones that caught his attention most included hunting, taking the family to Lake Travis, BBQ’ing and his most favorite of all was sitting in his swing and visiting with family and friends and enjoying nature.
Graveside services will be held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road 4 South, Burnet, Texas on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00 am.
