David Warren Webb was born in 1956 in Commerce, Texas, the youngest of six children, to parents Fannie Lorene Hargis and Herman Earl Webb. He was an adventurist who loved collecting rocks and fossils while exploring mountainous terrains. His earliest memories were of growing up in a small Texas town, learning to play guitar and spending time with his sister, Marilyn. His passion for music was evident with the sounds of his favorite records often filling the house. After High School, David left Commerce to pursue a college degree at the University of Houston where he studied Geology.
His love for studying rocks led him to adopting rock climbing as a favorite hobby, often setting out on trips with friends to mountainous areas. On one particular trip to Monterrey, Mexico, David met his future wife, Sara. They met through mutual friends and began a whirlwind romance traveling back and forth from Houston to Monterrey to see each other. After exchanging many love letters and becoming close with each other’s families, David and Sara married in 1980 in Houston. They settled in Sugar Land, Texas where they had their three children, Brandon, Elanie and Galen.
David excelled in a career at Exxon Mobile receiving many awards and achievements, including the President’s Award in 2012 in Geomechanics. After 32 years of hard work and dedication, David was able to retire comfortably with his wife, Sara.
Together they relocated to Marble Falls where they were quickly embraced by the tight knit community. Purchasing a home across the street from David’s older brother and his wife, Robert and Janet Webb, they hosted many dinners and BBQ’s together at each other’s homes. David loved nature, he built several feeders in his backyard for all the local wildlife. He especially loved bird watching from his favorite chair on their back porch. David often commented that he couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have such a beautiful home. Together Sara and David have created a space for family to visit and to continue to make many wonderful memories.
David passed away at home, the place he loved the most. He is survived by his wife Sara, his three children, Brandon (Maria), Elanie and Galen, grandson, Sebastian, and his brothers Robert and Jimmy and sister Marilyn, preceeded in death by his parents Herman and Fannie, and his siblings Richard and Marie.
