Born in Hedley, Texas, to John E. and Nora Bowman, Imogene spent much of her time as a young girl wanting to be outside with her brothers instead of playing dolls or cooking with her sister. As she grew older, she had the tedious task of packing parachutes for the troops as a Parachute Rigger in WWII. She later married A L Hahn, her husband of 63 years, and together had four children, Carrolyn Yancey, Ron Hahn, Pam Gwin, and Kyle Hahn. Whether in Lovington, New Mexico, Kingsland, Texas or Marble Falls, Texas, Imogene, and A L always had their garage door open to welcome family, friends, and even strangers into their home. She was faithful to raise her children and helped raise her nieces, Glenda Reynolds and Sandi Bennett. She also spent time hosting foreign exchange students.
Imogene loved Jesus and was not afraid to tell you about Him. Through the years, she taught Sunday school classes and rocked many babies in the nursery. She talked often about how those babies grew up and had babies of their own. Imogene did not let her age slow her down as she was recognized by the State of Texas as the oldest, ACTIVE, volunteer in the Texas Women’s Prison system. She loved to read the prison women poems, share about Jesus, and speak hope and love into each of their lives. At the age of 96, she became the Ambassador at the assisted living center where she welcomed newcomers to the facility, encouraged residents to get involved, continued to teach Bible studies, and won a lot of Bingo!
Imogene loved Jesus, her family, old friends, and new friends to the fullest. She loved to travel and shop!!!!
Imogene was predeceased by her parents, John E. and Nora Bowman; brothers, John E. (Jr) Bowman and Lester Bowman; sister Ruby Jones; husband, A L Hahn; daughter, Pam Gwin; daughter-in-law, Terri Hahn; niece, Glenda Jones Reynolds; and great nephew Heath Bennett.
