Jim attended Austin High and graduated in 1966, then went west to the University of Texas at El Paso on a football scholarship. After college, he began a career in finance in banks in Austin and in Marble Falls, serving as Vice President, President and CEO. He worked for the FDIC, served as CFO of Chuy’s Comida Deluxe, and President of Stewart Title. He also served as the Chairman of the Board on the Board of Directors for the LCRA.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Barrett and Ann Garrison. He is survived by his wife, Candy, three children, Barrett (Mary Jo), Ann Marie (Marco), and Maggie (Logan), six grandchildren, Holten, Gage, Stoney, James, Charlotte, and Sawyer, and his brothers, Bruce (Karen) and Craig.
The loves of his life were family, friends, ranching, hunting and football. He was truly larger than life and will be missed by many.
Please join us in celebrating the life of an unforgettable man. Grab your boots and get your hat and let’s say goodbye in the way he would have wanted. We plan to hold this special event on February 5th at 3 PM at Spicewood Vineyards. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family is asking for donations to be made in his name to the Working Ranch Cowboys Association Foundation.
“The man is a success who has lived well, loved much and laughed often.” Robert Louis Stevenson
