

James Ussery, 88, of Lockhart, Texas earned his Angel wings on August 8, 2023. He was born in Gainesville, TX and went to school there as a young man. He was lovingly known as Dad, Papa, Big Papa and Uncle Bud. He was a good man and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to play golf, watch golf and talk about golf and enjoyed poker nights with his buddies in Kingsland before moving to Lockhart.
James was in the army for a short period of time before receiving a discharge due to the death of his father. One of the places that he worked was Capital National Bank in Austin where he met his wonderful wife of 43 years, Beth. He worked for and ended up retiring from the United States Postal Service. After retirement, he spent a small amount of time as a master craftsman.....well, he built bird houses and other miscellaneous crafts which his wife and sister-in-law sold at craft shows and market days.
He was predeceased in death by Beth Ussery (wife), Carolyn Hildebrandt (sister), James Crites (grandson) and Preston Crites (great grandson). He is survived by 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be in our hearts forever!
