

Jean Curl Rogers was born March 18, 1928 in Tolar, Texas to O. C. and Blanche McIlroy Curl and died December 2, 2024 in Blue Lake at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Richard W. Rogers, Jr., daughter, Carolyn Rogers Sayre, and son, Jeffrey Harris Rogers. Jean is survived by her sons, Richard W. Rogers, III (Margaret) and Anthony Rogers (Blair), daughter-in-law, Carolyn Brice Rogers, and son-in-law, Frank Sayre. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Alexander Davis Rogers; George Sayre (Negin); Murphy Sayre (Brianna); Roger Sayre; Jeffrey Harris Rogers, Jr. (Kathryn); Elizabeth Jean Rogers (Chase); Richard W. Rogers, IV (Carol). Great-grandchildren: Darya and Kian Sayre; Zoe Carolyn and Colette Jean Sayre; Ben and Knox Rogers; and Casper Rogers.
Jean attended Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas Christian University and Houston Baptist University. In her 40’s, Jean began her career at Tremont Retirement Home in Houston and eventually retired as its Executive Director. She was instrumental in tax regulation reform for nursing homes in Texas and was recognized by the Governor of Texas for this contribution.
Jean had a wide circle of friends in Fort Worth, Houston and the Horseshoe Bay community. Jean enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, reading, playing games on her Kindle, and enjoying her view of Lake LBJ. She was a giving and loving life-force for her extended family, who gathered at her home, year after year, to connect and celebrate their love during times of joy and loss. Her last days were in the company of 25 members of her family where she had hosted Thanksgiving 2024 in her home on the lake.
A memorial service is planned for early Spring of 2025 and a notice will be posted in The Beacon
