

Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Brawley Burns, and his son in law, Dan Nichols. Jerry and Linda had two daughters together.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debbie Tomlin Burns, his daughters and their families: daughter Sheila Burns Nichols (Dan, deceased), grandson Cory Don Nichols, granddaughter Carissa Danielle Nichols and great grandson Cason Stephen Smith Nichols; and daughter Tracey Burns Bangs (Don).
Jerry and Linda had several businesses, including a ceramic shop in Florida and a florist shop and greenhouses in Mt. View, Arkansas.
Jerry served in the Army during the Korean War. After his time in the Army, he became a Master Electrician specializing in high voltage. He worked at the Kennedy Space Center in the 60’s during the Apollo flights. After that he had many high profile jobs including Quantico and the Hartwell Dam.
After retiring to Florida in 2000, he spent his time gardening and raising orchids. He enjoyed helping his neighbors on several honey-do projects.
In December of 2024, he moved to Horseshoe Bay, Texas where he and his wife Debbie moved in with his sister-in-law and her husband, Joyce and Jerry Peterson.
Early in 2025, he had several bouts of illness, hospital stays and heart surgery. In July he had a 2nd bout of pneumonia which put him in hospice care. After 4 ½ months of hospice care, he passed quietly at home. He was 89.
Jerry was a quiet man, a kind man, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
