

John W. Jenkins, formerly of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, but most recently living in Marble Falls, Texas, passed away at age 88 on August 2, 2026. John was born January 5, 1938 to Charles Francis and Ila Cunningham Jenkins in Jacksonville, Florida. John grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Paxon High School in 1956.
John served in the Air Force after high school where he learned to be an aircraft mechanic. That would become his life long career, working first for National Airlines and then Pan American Airlines, and retiring from United Parcel Service in 2000.
While stationed at Otis AFB he fell in love with Linda Dorothy Gibbs, whom he would marry in 1962. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert S. Jenkins and sister-in-law, Sylvia Jenkins; his niece, Colleen Kimball; and his daughter-in-law, Holly Jenkins. He is survived by his wife, Linda of 63 years; his daughter, Julie Herrera and her husband, Michael Herrera of Llano, Texas; his son, Scott Jenkins of Jefferson, TX. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Seth Jenkins of Dallas, Texas and Amber Sabo of Dallas, Texas.
John is at peace now and awaits the soon return of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be interred on September 16, 2026 at the Jacksonville Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in John’s memory.
