Kay Ellen Griffin

Kay Hammons Griffin, 71, of Marble Falls, Texas passed away December 19, 2013 from a lung infection. She was born November 1, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas where her father and mother, John Raymon Hammons (1916-2004) and Juanita Kennedy Hammons (1920-2000), worked on the war effort. After the war she grew up in various places around Texas and Louisiana. The family settled in Austin, Texas, where she graduated from Austin High School in 1960.

She had one brother, John Michael Hammons, who preceded her in passing in 1990.

Kay is survived by her two sons, Carl Wayne Griffin and David Lee Griffin, two daughters-in-law, Adriana Aragon Griffin and Cheyenne Stuart Griffin, grandchildren, Oliver Aragon, Lucy Griffin, Dylan Griffin and Ruby Griffin and great grandchild, Brenda Aragon.

Kay had an enormous heart and the sound of her laughter is remembered by many as having lifted their spirits. She was the archetypical Texas woman who could outdrink, outshoot and outfight most of the men of her generation. If she was your friend, she was your best friend and if she was your enemy, she was your worst enemy.

The world won't see the likes of her again and it is truly a lesser place without her here. Rest in peace, noble woman, your work here is done.

Visitation is Monday, December 23, 2013 at 12:30 PM at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Marble Falls City Cemetery.
