She was the most vibrant soul and fiercest fighter. Kristy truly was one-of-a-kind and touched so many lives in her short amount of time here on Earth.
Kristy was born 57 years ago at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA. Being in a military family meant moving often - living in 5 states from Massachusetts to Hawaii before settling in Texas. Kristy’s love of family, unwavering devotion to friends and determination to make others feel a part of something bigger came from this experience.
Kristy graduated from Southwest Texas State University where she was a cheerleader and met her husband, Lowell, a Bobcat football player. Their 35-year marriage started with the college sweethearts following Lowell’s military career - a familiar role for Kristy that she embraced as she did all new adventures. They started their family in Killeen with the birth of Tori with Seth completing the family of four in Calgary. In 1998, the family settled in Liberty Hill, Texas.
Tori and Seth were the center of Kristy’s world. She was so proud of the incredible people they have become. In them, we all see Kristy’s incredible spirit, kindness, and love of “family“. Kristy’s 3 year-old granddaughter, Kinsley, brought her more joy than she ever imagined was possible. Spending time with family and friends was always a priority. Trips to stock shows, the ranch in Del Rio, summers in Concan, Hawaii, Steamboat, and Costa Rica are just a few of the places where many memories were made that will live on in everyone’s hearts.
Kristy poured her heart into the Liberty Hill Community for the last 29 years. As a teacher, cheer sponsor, counselor, administrator, and lastly, as the LHISD Director of Communications and Community Engagement, she has forever impacted the people and programs of Liberty Hill. Her true gift was her ability to connect with people. She listened, guided, supported, and inspired others with such ease and grace.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell Kercheville; daughter, Tori Kercheville; son, Seth Kercheville; grandchild, Kinsley Kercheville; parents, Willibrord and Patricia Silva; father-in-law, John Kercheville; brother Paul Silva and wife Melana; sister, Heidi Silva; sister, Michelle Walker and husband Scott; nieces and nephews, Kelsey Bennett, Allison Edwards, Kyle Walker, Jarod Silva, and C’ne Kercheville. Kristy is preceded in death by her Mother-In-Law, Susan Kercheville.
Following Kristy’s lead of giving to others, a scholarship fund has been established in her honor. In place of memorial gifts or flowers, contributions can be made to the Scholarship Fund at Prosperity Bank (Liberty Hill location (“Scholarship Fund/Leath”) or PayPal ([email protected])
