Lawrence Martin Burstein

Larry Martin Burstein, 91, passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Reba Burstein of Marble Falls, Texas; daughters Debbie Widby of Wichita Falls, Debbie Cooley of Garland, nephew Alan Goodman of Silver Spring, Maryland, grandsons Shane Hazel of Plano and Jeremy and Zak Greer of Chicago, Illinois.

Larry was born on Sept. 16, 1921, in New York City, New York to parents Irving and Bertha Burstein. His one sister, Grace, passed away in 1990. Larry served as an airman in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a maintenance engineer on planes that were part of the hazardous "Flying the Hump" campaign, transporting munitions and fuel over the Himalaya Mountains from India into China. Most of Larry's career was spent in sales, working first in North Carolina and later opening up the Southwest territory for his company. Due to his affable nature and gift for human engagement, he had a long and successful career. Larry and Reba moved from the Dallas region to Marble Falls in 1992.

During his retirement years, Larry enjoyed playing golf on a daily basis with his many golfing friends who referred to him as "Boom Boom". He was also a dog lover who carried a box of dog treats in his cart and stopped frequently during his golf rounds to treat dogs all along the course. Larry was quick with a joke, quick with a smile, and brought joy and the brighter side of life to those who knew him.
