Leander (Lee, Bubba) Hunter was the third child born to Albert Hunter and Bernice Hunter-Yett on May 14, 1954 in Burnet, Texas. He resided in Marble Falls, Texas and later moved to Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by both parents, grandmothers: Mattie Morris Shelby and Mattie Bell Gage, one sister Alice Christine Alexander, one brother Albert Hunter Jr., two daughters Teresa Kay Hall, And Alicia Hunter, and one grand child, Natalie Marie Gonzaless.
He was a proud father and grandfather. Leander was blessed to have five children: Teresa Kay Hall, Mattie Morris Hunter, April Shanell Davis, Alicia Michelle Hunter Vega, Kendhal Overton-Hunter.
Leander was a loving, kind and warm hearted person, He never met a stranger. His smile was the first thing you noticed about him. He was encouraging and tried to offer assistance wherever he could. If there was a friend in need, he would help by selling meals and cakes to help raise funds.
Lee attended Marble Falls Independent school district, where he played football and baseball. He also participated in the softball city leagues.
He was a member of St Frederick Baptist church under pastor, Reverend Chester C. Williams while in Marble Falls. After moving to Austin, he joined the Maranatha Fellowship Church under pastor, Reverend Fontenot. Later he became a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church under Reverend Raphael C. Smith and Reverend Richard E,. Carter
Leander was employed with Sams Wholesale for 19 years as a greeter. He was a loyal and devoted employee. He displayed his gracious smile to everyone that he met as they entered and departed the store. He was always taking wonderful and tasty baked good to give his fellow co-workers. They were able to sample his delicious cakes, sweet breads and banana pudding for specials events and just aa a treat for the day.
He was a wonderful baker. His cakes were heavenly. He was always trying new ways to create desserts that would melt in you your mouth. At family gathering, everyone would anticipate his sweet contribution to the meal. How we will miss those peanut butter cakes!
On July 26, 2018, God called from labor to reward. He leaves to continue the precious memories of his life: daughters April Shenell Davis of Austin, Texas, Mattie Morris Hunter of Houston, Texas; son Kendhal Overton-Hunter (Ester) , Austin, Texas; grandsons Justin Hall, Marble Falls, Texas, Aliztar Overton-Hunter, Austin Texas,adopted granddaughter Taliyah Renae Davis, Austin, Texas; sisters Fannie Mae Conley, Killeen, Texas, Mattie Morris Odems (Bill), Austin, Texas and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
