Leo (Tony) passed away January 25, 2016. He was born January 13, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Leo and Clara Kaempf DeLisle. After graduation from South Division High School in 1944, he entered the United States Army and served for 2 years. He married Betty Krombholz in 1946 and they had 3 sons. Leo started his own business after the army, delivering fuel oil to oil company customers. He joined the Wauwatosa, Wisconsin Fire Department in 1949. He worked his way up the ranks until he retired in 1982 as the Assistant Fire Chief.
Leo and Betty moved to Horseshoe Bay in 1983 and he accepted the call to become the Fire Chief, and Betty organized the Lake LBJ Municipal District’s Telecare Program, a program that checks with homebound residents daily. Leo found the job as Fire Chief both challenging and enjoyable through the years. He earned the respect of not only the residents of Horseshoe Bay, but other area city and fire department officials. This was made evident when Leo received recognition in the Picayune News September 28, 1993 edition as the latest Picayune Hero.
Leo was a dedicated husband, father, officer and served the communities in which he lived with unselfish devotion.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty and son James. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth and wife Linda, and David and wife Chera, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
