Myrl Dianne Raines was born on July 18, 1940 in Stamford, TX to Faye Jobe and Budley Raines. A younger sister by 11 years, Myrl was practically an only child who inherited all of the audacity of her mother who was known to travel the world alone. Myrl married her high school sweetheart, Mike Robinson, at 19 years old and was initiated into the ranching way of life in Archer City, TX. By age 20, Myrl was mother to eldest daughter Polly and again at 23 to Mika. Although Myrl was a reputable cook, she is most known for her homemade bread that she made weekly for her grandchildren, church members, coworkers, and the cable repairman who enabled Myrl to tune into whatever sporting event was on television. Among Myrl’s other interests were sewing and knitting from which came many an afghan and matching mother-daughter outfits. The latter made for especially memorable family photos. Myrl would never admit to it herself but she was also quite the painter; Texas scenery was her favorite to portray. Predeceasing Myrl were her husband Mike Robinson and brother Don Raines. She is survived by her daughters Polly Lewis (Todd Lewis) of Marble Falls and Mika Slough (Toby Slough) of Denton, four grandchildren: Bailey Garner (Grant Garner) of Dallas, Mackenzie Rizzotto (Steve Rizzotto) of Fort Worth, Ross Slough (Michelle Slough) of Denton, and Natalie Lewis of Denver, CO, her sister-in-law Nicky Anderson and mother-in-law Lou Beth Robinson both of Lubbock, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. Myrl passed away on June 13, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp of the Hills c/o Donor Services, 1552 CR 344, Marble Falls, TX 78654.
