Paul was born on October 9, 1937, in Little Rock, Arkansas to parents Fred Allison and Juanita Hazel Harris. When Paul was twelve years old, he moved with his family from Kingsland, Arkansas to El Paso, Texas where he lived until he left for college. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Paul moved back to El Paso to teach where he met his wife, Mary Ann. Paul and Mary Ann were married on December 23, 1961, and blessed with two wonderful children. He worked for Ysleta ISD, the same district he graduated high school from, for 30 years as a teacher and vice principal. In that time he also received his Master’s Degree in Education Administration from UT El Paso. In 1990, Paul and Mary Ann retired and moved to Horseshoe Bay, Texas where they made many wonderful neighbors and friends.
Paul was an avid reader, specifically historical non-fiction and suspense novels. He was a frequent visitor of the local library and was on a first name basis with the volunteers there. After moving to Horseshoe Bay, Paul joined the community garden where he continued his interest in growing fruits and vegetables that he had begun in his El Paso backyard. He enjoyed playing duplicate bridge at the Highland Lakes Senior Center in Kingsland. Paul and Mary Ann also enjoyed many years singing in their church choir. The most important thing to Paul was his wife, Mary Ann; his children, Allyson and Jon; and his grandchildren, Alex, Emily, and Jacob.
Paul is survived by his daughter and her husband, Allyson and Mike Black of Marble Falls; three grandchildren, Alex Black of San Marcos, Emily Vaubel and husband Elie of Austin, Jacob Wieweck of Austin; and many loving extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann and son Jonathan.
