Phillip Aaron Lee, 86 of Horseshoe Bay passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022. Born on December 11, 1935, he was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend to many. As member of the Church at Horseshoe Bay, a past president of the Horseshoe Bay Property Owners Association and a member of the Horseshoe Bay City Council, Phil always sought a higher purpose in his life, mostly serving others and his community.
Phil was born and raised in Oklahoma City to Henry Beatty (HB) and Golda Anne (Phillips) Lee. He attended Classen High School and the University of Oklahoma before being commissioned into the Army as a second lieutenant in 1958. He retired as a Colonel in 1983 having served two tours in Vietnam, flew the Army Parachute Team, served as Chief of Ground Operations in Korea, and closing out his career working in the National Military Command Center at the Pentagon. His commitment fostered a family tradition of service to the country that spans the generations. Along the way, he always took time for family whether visiting national parks on family vacations, leading a Boy Scout troop, or jumping from a perfectly good airplane with his daughter.
Moving to Horseshoe Bay in 1995, he began to pursue golf and was always ready for a game. A committed servant, he also chose to serve as the President of the Property Owners’ Association, serve on the Horseshoe Bay City Council, spend time traveling the country, but most important, he was there for his family and friends.
Phil lived life large. Whether elk hunting in Colorado with his grandson, shooting guns with his life-long friend John, fishing off the coast of Alaska with his oldest son and grandsons or playing golf in Scotland with his boys, there was always time for another adventure. Throughout his life, Carolyn was always there to share in the experiences and support the latest cause.
He was preceded into Heaven by his parents HB and Golda Lee and his brother Bill Lee. The gang is all together again.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Carolyn Avis Lee, daughter Cindi Halpin, sons Phillip and Peter Lee, seven grandchildren Jaime Halpin, Molly Halpin, Benjamin Lee, Joshua Lee, Summer Maynez, Emily Williams, and Aaron Lee as well as seven and half great-grandchildren.
Interment will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
