She had a great passion for painting, was an excellent seamstress and did beautiful embroidery needlework. She enjoyed social events of all kinds and especially loved the many hours she spent playing bridge with her close friends.
Alex’s profession as a geologist for Cities Service Oil Company took them to many places, including Lovington, New Mexico; Midland, Texas (twice); Bogota, Columbia; Amarillo, Texas; and Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
After they retired, Phyllis and Alex traveled extensively for two years throughout the United States and then built a beautiful cabin in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range in Southern Colorado, where they spent their summers. In 1991, Horseshoe Bay, Texas became their primary home until they moved to Round Rock, Texas in April 2011.
Phyllis was quite gregarious and was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, June 20, 2011 at The Church at Horseshoe Bay. Following the service, families and friends are invited to Fellowship Hall at the church. Phyllis’s ashes will be entombed at the Eileen Hurd Mausoleum at Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
