US ARMY 1961
US AIR FORCE 1966-1984
On May 2nd, 2026, Raul Flores Garcia made his way home. Raul was a man of deep knowledge, strength, love and tenacity. Born June 18, 1943 in McAllen, TX, as a small child Raul remained curious and eager to learn. A force against adversity, with a love of community, exchange of books and conversation, he made sure to have the education that is not so freely given to all. When he wasn't out absorbing the world, he was the apple of his Grandma Nico's eye, her entire world. She would raise a man of resilience, love and dedication. Raul was determined to pioneer a life of his own; he began working for a grocery store in South Texas, and by 17 had enlisted in the United States Army. In 1961 he set off serving in the US Army, and from 1966–1984 he found his passion for the Air Force and forged a brotherhood of a lifetime.
While stationed in Germany, he would find his forever, Adolfa, or as he loved to call her, "Finny." They married December 19, 1964. Raul would show, in time, the true dedication of love, marriage and family. Through sickness and health, truly for better or for worse. "Love from the heart is forever." - Raul Garcia to "Finny"
From Germany, to Texas and all around the globe, Adolfa and Raul created a big, beautiful family of seven children. They raised their children on the bases, following their “pops” and as they would say, "military brats." Through the years he could be found in his garage working in his upholstery shop, always creating and restoring beauty through his work. His passion for motorcycles and the freedom of the road would find its way into generational love with all who surrounded him. A man of many talents and interests, he excelled in music, playing bass in the band with his brother and glued to his accordions. The feathers didn't fall far from the nest, as his passions would become the soul that captured his children, grandchildren and generations to follow. His family grew, along with his heart, as he welcomed more family in the coming years. He was vital in the life of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Remember always that love is defined by a lifetime of memories, rather than a final moment. Raul's accordion will sing alongside Oma's harmonizing harmonica. When a song hits you and makes you want to dance, or when you don't know what's next, know you will always have an extra guardian angel protecting you. Hear these words, hold onto our laughter and stay curious in this big world. "We will be together again." "Bless You."
