Rosa Gladys Dixon, 75, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in San Rafael, California, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Bold, authentic, and unapologetically herself, Rosa said what she meant and meant what she said.
Born in Usulután, El Salvador, to Santiago and Anna Herrera, Rosa, also known as Tía Gladys, was one of 11 siblings who grew up with very little, but wanted for nothing. In a home without phones, television, or electricity, she and her sisters discovered that happiness wasn't found in possessions but in each other. They studied together by candlelight, sang in the streets of Usulután to delighted local fans, and learned early that life's greatest treasures were the simple joys of family and music filling the air.
When Rosa made the courageous decision to come to the United States in search of opportunity, she brought with her that same spirit of resilience and joy. Though she and her siblings were separated for a time, the bond they forged in those early years never wavered. She treasured every family reunion, every shared song, every lively moment together — especially her travels through Mexico with her eldest sister, experiences she held close to her heart.
In her new country, Rosa built a life centered on the roles she cherished most: devoted mother to her three children, loving wife to her husband Bill, and faithful woman of God. She was the pillar of her family — loving, attentive, affectionate, and fierce when she needed to protect. She demanded high levels of respect and kindness, not because she was harsh, but because she knew these values would make her children strong enough to face the world on their own. And they did, carrying forward the strength she instilled in them.
In her garden, Rosa’s green thumb brought beauty to everything she touched. In her kitchen, she cooked with pride and care, pouring love into every meal she made for Bill. Her home reflected her remarkable attention to detail and her deep appreciation for cleanliness and order. She noticed and celebrated beauty wherever she found it, often complimenting others on their well‑kept homes. Rosa also enjoyed being pampered — having her hair and nails done — and always carried herself with impeccable grace and style.
But it was her personality that made Rosa truly unforgettable. Her sharp wit, honesty, and unmistakable bluntness were legendary. You always knew where you stood with Rosa, and that candor was one of her most endearing qualities.
Above all, Rosa's faith guided everything she did. She served her church with dedication and gave to those she loved. Her heart remained rooted in her faith and her family.
Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Dixon, who passed away three years ago. She is survived by her three children; her mother, Ana Herrera, and her siblings: Teresa Coronado, Ana Cristina Delgado, Marina Ayala, Carmen Quinteros, Rosalba Castillo, Marta Diaz, Jose Santiago Herrera, Eliud Herrera, Moises Herrera, and Abner David Herrera, along with countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She will be remembered for her loving spirit, her elegance, her fierce love, and the care she took in everything she did. The streets of Usulután once echoed with her voice in song; now heaven has gained its newest choir member.
Visitation will be held on February 3, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Travis Peak Church of Christ, located at 7893 Singleton Bend, Marble Falls, TX. "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." — Joshua 1:8
