Above all else, Salvador loved God. His faith in Christ guided the way he lived every day and shaped everything that mattered most to him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith touched countless lives.
Born in Mexico, Salvador was a man of many talents and passions. He worked as a painter and wallpaper hanger by trade and was skilled in woodworking and other crafts. He loved working with his hands, helping others, and taking pride in a job well done.
An avid gardener, Salvador enjoyed watching things grow and appreciated the beauty of nature. He loved fishing, spending time outdoors, and sharing stories with family and friends. In his younger years, he was an outstanding baseball player, and his love for the game stayed with him throughout his life.
His love for God led him to a lifetime of service. Salvador served as a Bible teacher and Spanish minister, faithfully sharing God's Word and encouraging others in their walk with Christ. An avid reader, he never stopped wanting to know Christ more deeply, spending time each day reading and studying the Bible. He also helped organize and direct medical mission efforts into Mexico for churches and groups from across the United States. Helping others came naturally to him.
To know Salvador was to know someone who welcomed people with an open heart. He offered encouragement, a helping hand, and a listening ear whenever they were needed. He was never afraid to speak his mind or gently correct someone when he felt they were headed in the wrong direction. Whether you agreed with him or not, you knew his words came from a place of love, faith, and genuine concern for others.
While we grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beautiful bride, Felipa, whom he loved so dearly. Together they shared 49 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and service. Their love and devotion were an example to our family and to all who knew them.
Salvador was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Felipa; his parents, Sotero and Crecencia Santillan; his brothers, Daniel, Arnulfo, Rogelio, and Dr. Ismael Santillan; and his sisters, Avilia Rodriguez, Evangelina Natividad, and Luisa Cruz.
He is survived by his children, Mike Santillan and his wife, Sarah; Angelica Santillan; and Abraham Santillan and his wife, Allison; his grandchildren, Nikki, Jason, Benjamin, and Emma; his great-granddaughter, Amelia; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
