Sammie Jack Tarbet left this world to join his wife with the Lord in Heaven on Monday, July 27th, 2020, passing peacefully at home with family.

Sam Tarbet was born in Lamesa, Texas on October 12th 1946 to Price Keith and Ethel Tarbet. He was the youngest of 7 with 4 brothers (Joe, Don, Bob, and Lynn) and 2 sisters (Nelda and Ruth). Sam grew up on a small farm in Ackerly, Texas. He attended Lubbock Christian College and Abilene Christian College where he made lifelong friendships. He moved to Austin Texas in 1972 and on February 22nd 1973, Sam and Linda met for a first date at Nighthawk steakhouse, and, as they say ..."the rest is history". Sam and Linda were married at the Austin Presbyterian Seminary Chapel on July 26th 1975. Sam and Linda then moved to Horseshoe Bay in 1976. Their first son, Samuel Justin was born in 1978. They built their first home in 1979. Their second son, Jonathan David, was born in 1979 and finally their third son, Benjamin Wade, was born in 1982. Sam worked tirelessly in real-estate, at home, and at Church to provide a wonderful and loving life for his family.

Sam began his real estate career in Horseshoe bay working for Norman and Wayne Hurd. He enjoyed his work there and continued in real estate and helped develop the area for 46 years. In that time he gained many friends and colleagues and was an integral part of the community

Sam was a faithful Christian and member of the Church of Christ throughout his life. He was a member and volunteer at the Marble Falls Church of Christ for 30 years followed by the Lake Country Church of Christ for the last 14 years.

Sam is now reunited with his loving wife Linda who passed away on April 13th 2017 and his oldest brother Joe on April 10th, 2019. Sam is survived by his 3 sons and 2 granddaughters. Justin and his wife Lauren of Pflugerville with their 2 daughters Madison Brooke and Ava Sunshine; Jonathan of Marble Falls; and Benjamin of Marble Falls. He is also survived by his brothers (Don, Bob, and Lynn) and sisters (Nelda and Ruth). As well as, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and an abundance of friends and colleagues.

There will be a family visitation held on Monday August 3rd, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 Highway 281 N. in Marble Falls. I will miss Sam very much, after having known him for the 13 years I've worked for the City. He was a trusted friend, advisor and mentor who helped me learn about Wayne and Norman Hurd and what Horseshoe Bay was really about. He always had answers to my questions and steered me in the right directions when I needed information on anything historical. The City has lost another major icon who had its best interests in mind and in heart. I was honored to know and work with him.

We saw a lot of ups and downs, but Sam was also so nice, even when we weren’t on the same side. He will be missed by all.

Sam was one of my favorite cousins. I loved his kind heart and sweet smile. I will miss knowing he's no longer a town away.

With love to Jonathan, Benjamin, and Justin. You three were both of your parents' pride and joy. ❤
