I was always somewhat of am outcast in high school but Sam was always friendly to me and gave me confidence. I remember after we all had bought our tonettes which were little flute like wind instruments and everyone was playing with them in class and in a moment of quiet Sam played the most beautiful song that we all applauded and got one of his award winning smiles which were so genuine and heartfelt.

I did not know Sammy very well, except at the annual Roach reunions each summer. He was always of a gentle nature when I shared conversation with him. I miss seeing Lillian light up with her gracious smile when her beloved Sammy showed up. She loved everyone, but especially Sammy. I appreciate the hospitality you and Sammy gave of your home at the reunion about four years ago. Janice, Melanie told me she enjoyed sharing with you on the front porch shortly before we departed. May the Lord comfort you during this mournful period.
