Virginia May Robbins, beloved daughter, sister, mother, nana and aunt quietly passed away at her home during her mid-morning nap. Just the way she wanted to go home and be reunited with her family and friends.
She was born November 2, 1944, I Poteet, TX to Henry and Etheleen Robbins. They were the salt of the earth dairy farmers, and she was 9 of 10 children. She worked hard on the dairy farm, right along with her siblings and parents. Her dad put her on a tractor at the age of 6, when she could reach the pedals and told her to start plowing. She was so scared, because she almost ran over her dad the first time, but she learned how to plow the fields, milk cows, farm the land and still be active in school. She was an avid basketball player, played in the marching band, FFA Sweetheart, and all the while working on the dairy farm.
When she moved to Marble Falls in 1970 with her husband and daughter, she became active in the Methodist church. Virginia and two new friends were the ones that started the Sunday School classes in the church. She became the pastor’s secretary and worked in the church for many years. Later she went into real estate and then she changed careers and went into the financial world where she thrived and eventually retired from.
She never attended college, but that did not stop her from making a very good life for herself. Her hard work and discipline growing up contributed to her success. She always said you can do anything you want, just put your mind to it and work hard.
She loved playing tennis, time at the lake, reading, quilting/sewing and anything outside. She was extremely devoted to her family and loved them with everything she had.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Shannon (Donnie), grandson Christopher (Casey), granddaughter Katie and great granddaughter Isla, 5 brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad, four brothers and sisters and son-in-law.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am with service to follow at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or any charity of your choice.
