

William (Bill) Tombs passed away on Feb. 4, 2016 at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by his father B.A. Tombs and his mother Blanche McCann Tombs. He is survived by his wife Peggy Blackmore Tombs, his three daughters Monica Denham McCollum from Georgetown, Mojo Cornelius and husband Jim from Marble Falls, Tanya McConn and husband Donald from Maryville, Tennessee, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by one brother John Tombs and one sister Linda Sutton. He is survived by one sister Ollie ‘Tootsie’ Beyer of Arlington. Bill was raised in Georgetown where he enjoyed the small town atmosphere and playing sports for the Georgetown Eagles. He was an avid baseball player and attended Texas Tech University where he played baseball. He then went to Colorado and played semi-pro baseball. He ended his baseball career to join the United States Air Force on March 30, 1959. He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star along with numerous other awards. He retired from the Air Force on June 30, 1983 and became the golf pro at Meadowlakes in Marble Falls for eight years. He spent his final days at his ranch in the Texas Hill country; deer hunting, spending time with his wife, family, and friends. “Pawpaw Bill” loved his family, his friends, his country, and said goodbye in peace, surrounded by those he loved.
Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church, Marble Falls, Texas February 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm,
