After retirement, Willie and James enjoyed traveling the world. They took several excursions throughout Europe and Great Britain. In 1988 they lived in Calgary Canada for 6 months just so they could host family and friends for the Olympics. They enjoyed immersing themselves in the culture of each country they visited, taking the time to get to know the locals. Puerto Vallarta was their favorite destination, and they hosted numerous family and friends for vacations in this southern paradise.
An avid golfer, Willie also played softball, was on multiple bowling leagues, enjoyed the dog races and rolled a mean game of Craps. Willie was a social butterfly making friends wherever he went. He had a great sense of humor, always cracking jokes, drank Arnold Palmer’s daily and was the life of the party. He loved the music of Frank Sinatra, his favorite song being “I did it my way”, and that is exactly how he lived his life.
