I want to extend my sympathy to the family of Tony. I met Tony and Jo when I visited my sister and her husband in Arlington Heights. They lived next door to Tony and Jo.
I always enjoyed visiting with them through the backyard fence or when walking the dog.
Such wonderful people. Am very happy that I came to know them. I still have the friendship pillow they gave to us.

Great neighbors for 13 years. Tony and Jo were so friendly and kind. They have to be together in heaven at rest.

One summer when I was a teenager my Grandpa taught me the art of mowing a lawn. Looking back I feel that maybe he taught me too much about how to operate a lawn mower but then again this is a man who is known for his keen sense of detail. One day I was mowing his yard when I was ambushed by wasps, I retreated to the safety of his house to clean my wounds. He started pouring whiskey on my arm to clean it, and there he taught me how to make his favorite drink- The Manhattan. That was the first drink I ever made, and that moment we shared made all the wasp stings seem worth it. I know he is in heaven right now making everyone the drink he showed me that summer day, and maybe for some lucky few up there he will teach them how to mow the lawn (a little too well) like he did for myself, Anthony, Michael, and Luis.

Tony Wendling was one of the nicest men we have known. From the first time we met him and Johanna, we knew we had made true friends. Although from humble beginnings, he was very successful in life.
He was most proud of his children – and their children. His family should take comfort in knowing that he lived a full, rich life and was loved by all who knew him. May we all be so blessed.

Mr. Wendling or more lovingly known to me as AW. Growing up in Elmwood Park on 78th court was made very memorable because of my favorite neighbor family The Wendling’s. AW, Gramma Wendling, Peter, Joey, Eddy and Margie were the best neighbors I have ever had. Nothing but fun and the older we all got the more fun we all had. We were all known as The Wendilli’s. 4 great parents all together now with our Lord Jesus Christ and the 12 of us kids. 4 Wendling’s kids and 8 Turilli kids reaping havoc on 78th court. The parties we all shared were so nice, relaxing and we all shared much laughter. Cheers to AW and to all us Wendilli’s. Love John Wendilli.
