Barbara Bettis Hunt (Bobbie), 79, of Moore Haven Florida passed peacefully on May 16, 2011 in Naples Florida. She was surrounded by her loving daughters. Bobbie was born Barbara Beryl Bettis in 1931 in Dayton Ohio to the late Edward L. Bettis and Elizabeth (Frantz).
A precocious teen, Bobbie moved to the top of ‘Job’s Daughters’ as ‘honored queen’. A spirited and intensely intelligent woman, she moved to New York City during the early 50’s to study writing, supporting herself as a fashion model. She relocated to Miami FL where she met her first husband, Harry Packlick. Bobbie loved to write and published several books pseudonymously. Drawing upon her decades of expertise writing and producing house organs for country clubs, she founded a successful business, ‘Bobbie Graphics Inc’ which she ran until her retirement. A dedicated friend of Bill W, she sponsored and inspired women for decades to live better lives. In 1976 Bobbie wed Ernie Hunt for whom her love, devotion, and admiration never wavered. A courageous and determined woman who lived life on her own terms, she drew tremendous satisfaction from proving her doctors wrong; battling COPD with dignity many years beyond their predictions. She loved watching NASCAR racing (Tony Stewart #14), games of bridge, soap operas, and actively trading stocks. Bobbie liked to say, “If you think your mission on earth is over, and you’re still here, it ain’t.” Her uncompromising integrity and moxie will continue to inspire the lives she touched.
Bobbie is survived by: her 5 beloved children- sons Harry Jr. and Edward Packlick; daughters Fran Metz, Kritina Ash, and Katheine Jones; her sister Jeanne Stearman; her treasured grandchildren Tina, Amber, Phoenix, Kolbe, Sarah Jones, and Kyle Packlick; grandchildren Liam and Kali. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Earnest Hunt; sisters Helen and Sarah, and special friend Charlie.
Per her request, a private memorial sunset service was held in lieu of a funeral.
Bobbie adored wild flowers; so if you see one, smile and think of her.
Contributions to Avow hospice, Naples FL welcomed.
Arrangements under the direction of Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, Marco Island, FL.
