Betty W. Kimble was born on July 2, 1924 in Richmond, Indiana to Elijah and Myrtle Kenworthy. She had an older sister, Margaret, now deceased; a younger sister, Dorothy, and two younger brothers, James and John.
Betty grew up in Kettering, Ohio, just outside of Dayton. She was the lead majorette in her high school's band along with her sister, Dorothy. Her talent was recognized by an art teacher, which began a lifelong love for art. She would live as a working artist for over 70 years in Dayton and Marco Island. She was an avid athlete in her younger years, and won statewide recognition in archery competitions. She met her husband, Edward, while in high school, and they married after he returned from World War II.
She loved helping others, and donated her time and art to children in local hospitals. All the way up to her death, she was passionate about her art, and especially enjoyed the social aspect of working as an artist in her community. Her specialty was the hand-drawn cards she made and sold at a local gift shop on Marco Island.
After her husband passed away in 1966, Betty made a living as an artist full time. She raised three sons, Robert, Steven, and Edward, on her own. She is also survived by her grandson, Christopher; her granddaughter, Deborah; and her two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
