Pickelman, Betty Joan - 94, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in Naples, Florida. A memorial service will be celebrated 10 AM, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Marco Lutheran Church, Marco Island, Fl. Pastor Kevin Koenig will officiate the service. There will be one hour visitation prior to the service. Inurnment has taken place and will be interred in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Saginaw, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marco Lutheran Church.
Betty was born in Hemel Hempstead, England on January 4, 1925 to the late Arthur and Emily (Davis) Kingham. She married Edwin J. Pickelman on January 22, 1944 in Kings Langley, England. Betty was an English war bride and they moved back to Saginaw after the war. She started her career with Second National Bank and then as a successful Avon lady. She returned to Second National Bank and finished her career as an Assistant VP, Branch Manager. During this time Ed and Betty raised five sons. Betty was a member of Marco Island Lutheran Church and volunteered during her retirement years at Naples Community Hospital and Marco Lutheran Church. She really enjoyed her time in sunny Florida and spending time with her five sons and family. As God would have it, Betty passed away on their anniversary date which would have been 75 years.
She leaves in her loving memory, her sons John (Barbara) Pickelman, Frisco, TX; Jeffrey (Mary) Pickelman, Williamsburg, MI; Gene (Lori) Pickelman, Freeland, MI; Brian (Joni) Pickelman, Freeland, MI; Barry Pickelman, predeceased her on September 10, 1990. Edwin predeceased her on January 28, 1999. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Pickelman; Matthew (Tracy) Pickelman; Luke (Faye) Pickelman; Erik (Stephanie) Pickelman; Stacy (Michael Teshale) Pickelman; Jonathan (Samantha) Pickelman; Kara (Michael) Gorte; Kallee (John) Donahue. In addition 14 lovely great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Betty’s siblings predeceased her; brother David (Mary) Kingham; sisters Peggy (Peter) Tempest; Ann (John) Bunda; also, brother-in-law Harley (Alice) Pickelman; sisters-in-law Lucinda (Jack) Thompson; Lolly (Dick) Collison; Marie (Stewart) Spyker.
The family sincerely thanks family and friends who frequently visited her during her final years. Special thanks to Peter, Andrea and all the “angels” at Barrington Terrace Assisted Living.
