Charles (Charlie) Albert Cummins II was born on May 5, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of Albert Stalfort Cummins and Catherine A. Cummins (née Blair) and brother to Katherine (Kitty) C. Kohlhepp (deceased). He died peacefully surrounded by family and with caring support from Avow Hospice at The Arlington of Naples on his birthday - May 5, 2024 - at 94 years of age.
He was married to Jennie S. Cummins from July, 1967 to the time of her death in June, 2010. After living in Maryland for many years, Charlie and Jennie retired to Marco Island, FL in 1985.
From a previous marriage, Charlie has four children: Suzanne (David) Yunghans of Cape May Point, NJ; Charles A. (Holly) Cummins III of Cobleskill, NY; Katherine A. (Lee) Watkins of Baltimore, MD; Wendy L. (Steve) Kirschner of Downingtown, PA. He is also survived by step-son William Chaney of Suffolk, VA and step-daughter-in-law Deborah Chaney of Lewisville, TX. He is pre-deceased by step-son Scott Chaney. Charlie is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren.
Charlie was a graduate of McDonogh School and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He played Varsity Lacrosse and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and Tau Beta Pi. Charlie served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. Honorably discharged in 1957. He was also a member of the Baltimore Country Club and the Royal Order of Jesters.
Following the Army, Charlie worked as an engineer for Cummins-Hart Construction Co. and Tate Engineering before starting his own company in 1960 with Charles Wagner. Cummins-Wagner Company, Inc. is an industrial sales and service company specializing in mechanical equipment. Subsequently, they formed a manufacturing company, APT Inc., to build packaged mechanical and electrical systems and C-W & Co., a real estate development firm. In 1985, the company was sold to the employees through an ESOP. Charlie served on the Board of Directors of Cummins-Wagner Company for many years and was so very proud of its continued success.
After retirement, Charlie held the office of Secretary, Treasurer and President of the Shipp’s Landing Condo Association and Treasurer and President of the Island Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf and evenings of cocktails and dancing with friends at various locations around Marco Island. But what he loved the most was the South Florida lifestyle and his wonderful views of the Marco River from his home.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, 577 W Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, FL on June 4 at 2:00 pm. Sharing of Memories will begin at 3:00 pm. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at The Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore, MD.
