Don LaPato, 88, originally from Chicago, who more than two decades ago settled in Marco Island, Florida, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2023. Don loved and cherished his beautiful wife, Patricia, as well as the rest of his family, whom he held so close to his heart. He was a devoted family man; his family was his most important treasure and his demonstrated love for them continues on.
Don is survived by his wife, Pat, nee McMahon, his children, Peg (Patrick) Rey, Susan (David) Americus, Donald (Denise) LaPato, Joan (Frank) Price, Karen (Chris) Felix, and Bill (Lisa) LaPato; his grandchildren, Michael, Joseph (Maggie), Dominic and Anthony (Jamie) Senese; David (Alexis), Michael (Alexa) and Joseph Americus; Michael (Dennise) LaPato, Gina (Antone) Riley and Angela (Joe) Furco; Stephanie (Robert) Martin and Anthony (Tracee) Price; Tori, Charlie, Sam and Ben Felix; Nicolas (Olivia) LaPato, Alexa (Robbie) Burie and Melissa (Jacob) Tyer; twenty-three great grand children, and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Sue LaPato (Mesko) and his sister Carol Wolcott (LaPato).
Don was a hard-working, successful tradesman for over 35 years. He was a reverent member of the Knights of Columbus for many years, participated in and contributed to countless community and civic related activities throughout his life and was a proud, decorated Navy veteran.
Services will be held at San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Road, Marco Island, Florida, on Friday, November 17th at 11:00 am. Don’s interment in San Marco Memorial Garden will immediately follow the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s name to the Knights of Columbus, San Marco Council #6344, PO Box 417, Marco Island, FL 34145.
