Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin and friend, Donna (Dion) Harrington, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, surrounded by family and loving thoughts and prayers from near and far.
Born in Hartford, CT to the late Marion (Sterzing) and Vincent Dion, Donna graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1962 and earned a certificate in secretarial skills from Hartford Business School.
Donna held the position of Military Contracts Administrator for Colt Firearms in Hartford for 25 years before leaving the cold of New England in 2001 to live full-time with her husband on the sunny shores of Marco Island, FL. Known for her business acumen and ability to run a smooth day-to-day operation, Donna’s specialty was her empathy and ability to solve disagreements with tact and diplomacy, a skill put to good use in her position as Site Manager for two large condo associations in Marco.
Married in October of 1964 to Thomas Harrington, the love of her life, and only boyfriend since she was 12 years old, Donna moved to Lompoc, CA to join Tom stationed at Vandenberg Air Force base. Returning to CT in 1967, they bought a house in Enfield where they raised their family, became active in the community as well as the local Catholic church. Their dedication to religion continued when she and Tom moved to Florida where they became active members of the San Marco Parish church. Many may recall Donna as one of the long-time ushers at the 10:30 mass, a role she held ‘religiously’ for 20 years.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, Donna is survived by her children Kim Pereyra and her husband Fernando, Teri Sidway, Michelle Tyler-Rivera and her husband Valeriano, Thomas Harrington Jr and his wife Stacey, grandchildren - Amber, Shaun, Hailey, Karlie, Jocelyn, Anthony, Zachary, Ferdell, and Kristofer, great-grandchildren Hunter, Tucker, Morrigan, Jackson, Violet, Cynthia, several nieces and nephews as well as her sisters Karen Swanson of Middletown, CT and Marg Dion of Nashua, NH
The interment of her ashes and a celebration of life will take place in the fall of 2026. The exact date and location to be determined.
