AKA “ Mom” to many who loved her.
Born December 11,1926 in Crisfield, Maryland, Jean was a member of the “Greatest Generation”. Formerly of Lutherville, Maryland and Ocean City, Maryland, Jean resided in Marco Island, Florida until her death on February 13,2020.
Daughter of the late Mary Belle and F. Stewart Miles. Sister of the late Marilyn Spies. Devoted wife of the late Alan M. Clarke to whom she was married for 49 years.
Loving mother of Barbara Clarke Gambrill and Richard A. Clarke. Beloved mother-in-law of Diana Clarke and the late Richard Gambrill.
Dear Grandmother of Bryan Gambrill (Jennifer), Kevin Gambrill (Tracy), Richard Clarke, Jr. (Jennifer) and Allison Gentile (Andrew). Also survived by 7 of the worlds most beautiful great - grandchildren. Jean leaves behind many friends and family who will miss her greatly.
Jean was an incredible homemaker whose hobbies included politics; she would volunteer at the polls on Election Day and also with the Maryland Republican Party. Some of her other interests included, extensive travel with Alan, her friends and family. She was an amazing and talented artist, specializing in florals and seascape scenes. Never one to sit and let the world go by Jean kept busy gardening and arranging her flowers into beautiful centerpieces, playing golf, having 2 holes in one! bocce, croquet, her chair balance classes and of course Happy Hour.
Spending time with family and friends topped her list of a perfect day. She loved entertaining and always had a place at her table for anyone who wanted to join in.
Jean loved our President and would be honored if you would consider supporting conservative policies.
We will be celebrating her life at a funeral mass on Friday, March 6, 2020 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Marco Island at 10am. Luncheon will follow immediately at Hideaway Beach Club where we will continue celebrating a life well-lived.
