Gary Alan Schumaker, 65, of New Baltimore, Michigan and Fort Myers, Florida, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 1 2020 in Bonita Springs, Florida. Born in Detroit, Michigan to James and Edith (Parowski) Schumaker, he lived most of his life close to the water.
He was a passionate fisherman who was more at home on the water than on land. He was a dedicated servant of God, who always made time for those he loved, and those who needed him. He was fortunate to have made his living though his other passion, American-made automobiles, first through Chrysler and later though his independently-owned business, Schumaker Motors, from which he happily retired in 2017.
Gary is lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Amber (Aaron) Wirth, Erica Schumaker, and Gretchen Schumaker, as well as his grandson Levi Wirth. He is also survived by his brother Dennis (Susan) Schumaker and sister Doreen Schumaker-Easlick, as well as nephews Brock, Darryl, and Douglas, niece Heather, and too many friends to count. He was predeceased by both his parents and adored twin sister, Gail Schumaker.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at a celebration of life that will take place in Michigan at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Gary’s name to the Macomb Alano Center at 20900 Cass Ave, Clinton Twp Michigan 48036.
