Corporal George Podolak served overseas in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army as a Military Policeman. After completing his service, he developed and built a successful Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning business in Chicago, Illinois. George and Adrienne moved to San Diego, California in 1985. George continued in the HVAC business until 1991 when they felt the calling to move to Marco Island, Florida. Being a man who needed to remain active, retirement didn’t suit him, so he accepted various jobs on Marco Island where he developed relationships that have been fostered for 30+ years.
George was a mainstay of his community for 32 years as always being the guy friends and neighbors would call to help fix things around the house. George was an active, strong and vibrant man his entire life. He was known for his Patriotism, (a proud participant of his Honor Flight to Washington, DC), love of the Marco Island Resident’s Beach, his sense of humor, love of motorcycles, jazz music and willingness to help anyone and talking to everyone he met. While his main focus was devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he always found time to help others.
George will forever be missed by his loving wife, Adrienne of 38 years, three daughters: Patricia, Janice and Diane; stepsons Kevin and his spouse Christine and Keith and David. Grandchildren: Jennifer and her spouse Joseph, Jessica and her spouse Nicholas, James, Joel, Anthony, Adam and Trevor. Great Grandchildren: Elin, Carson, Landon, George and Ahska. Niece: Candice. His siblings, Robert, Ed and Lillian along with his Mother and Father, George and Anna Podolak will welcome him into Heaven.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Thursday, August 31st from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home located at 577 E. Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, FL. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am with a reception to immediately follow.
