Jack Kenneth Shelton

Born in 1929, in Jackson, Michigan, Jack lived a life defined by integrity, humility, and a deep commitment to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps before pursuing higher education at Oklahoma State University, where he earned both a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in industrial psychology.

In 1956, Jack began a distinguished career with Ford Motor Company. Over the course of four decades, he became a trusted leader and advisor, ultimately retiring as Director of Employee and Corporate Insurance. Beyond Ford, he served as Chairman of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and was nationally recognized for his expertise in health care policy. While his professional accomplishments were many, Jack was most proud of the relationships he built and the people he mentored throughout his career.

Jack and his wife, Margaret, raised their family in Dearborn, Michigan, before eventually relocating to Marco Island, Florida following retirement. Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of Dearborn Country Club and later The Island Country Club.

Jack treated others with respect, fairness, and generosity while holding firm to the principles he believed in. Caring, witty, and wise, he had a way of making people feel supported and valued. Professionally, he was determined and tenacious; personally, he was steady, thoughtful, and dependable. He lived by the values he passed down to his family: work hard, be consistent, do the right thing, and remember that "everything in moderation."

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Shelton, and his son, Kenneth (Patricia) Shelton.

He is survived by his son, John Shelton (Karen Boyak); his daughter, Jacqueline (Bill) Krampf; his grandchildren, Molly Grysko, Abigail Fakhoury, Brenna Shelton, Amanda Sariego, and Jacob Krampf; and his eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Marilyn Howard, his loving companion of more than twenty years, whose friendship, care, and companionship enriched his life immeasurably.

Jack leaves behind a family shaped by his example and strengthened by his love, guidance, and generosity. A devoted family man, he was especially supportive of his grandchildren and took great pride in the generations that followed him. His steady presence, wisdom, and quiet support will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, 577 E. Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, FL 34145. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service.
