Katherine Marie Carey

Katherine M. Carey (Duffy), born December 9, 1938 to James and Louise Duffy (Nicholson) (now deceased);Kathy resided in Dorchester and Millis, MA and was a current resident of Marco Island, FL. Kathy passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 and is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, John M. Carey, her sisters Jean Blackadar of Arlington, VA; Constance (Connie) Twohig and her husband Gary of North Reading, MA; Louise Dominique of Middleboro, MA; Virginia Joyce, of Hull, MA., her sisters-in-law and her many nieces and nephews. Kathy graduated from Boston State Teacher’s College with a B.A. and Master of Arts Degrees in Teachers Arts, specializing in Elementary Education. Kathy proudly served as an elementary education teacher for the City of Boston Public School System for 33 years from 1960 through 1993. Kathy was an avid lover of Traditional Irish Music and Dance, and a seasoned dancer and tin-whistle player. She was a long-time member of Comhaltas Ceoltóiri Éireann – Boston Reynolds-Hanafin-Cooley Branch, the Irish Social Club, the Boston Irish Music Club and the Norwood Irish Club. A Funeral Service shall occur in The Rite of Christian Burial at San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Rd., Marco Island, FL on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11:00 am.
