

A man known for his love for others and strived to build community and connections with everyone he met. Larkin Holmes Barnett, III, 83 of Marco Island, FL, died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at his home on 03/04/26.
He was born in Norfolk, VA in 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larkin and Mary Barnett, and his brother, Dean Barnett. He is survived by three children, Dana (Sherolyn) Barnett, Sheila Kitchens, and Anthony Barnett, and two grandchildren, Belinda (Eric) Lupton and Lynn (Jaden) Sivils, and four great grandchildren, Baylee Lupton, Riley Lupton, Mercedes Sivils, Randi Sivils.
He graduated from Granby High School, Norfolk, VA and joined the Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. He completed his service as a wounded veteran and is a Medal of Honor recipient who was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After his service, he used his entrepreneurial skills and operated restaurants throughout the years in Norfolk and in Virginia Beach, where he was well remembered and known by locals through his restaurant endeavors. Later, he moved to Marco Island and began a home remodeling company, IKB Construction, that is favored by those who knew him and his love for doing a job excellently while fostering relationships and community with clients and his employees.
Those who knew him will remember him fondly saying “Go to the future!” his common farewell that sought to encourage the listener to always strive to live and grow as a person to make the world a better place.
Celebration of Life service is 03/20/2026 at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home at 11am, with a Gathering of Family & Friends from 10am – 11am. Donations to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
