With great sorrow, we announce that Larry Gentry passed away at his dream home in Marco Island, Florida on August 4, 2020. His wife (Susan) and daughter-in-law (Angie) were by his side as he crossed over to the eternal life. The family finds comfort knowing that Larry passed away in his paradise (aka “Laradise”) in Marco Island.
Larry was born on April 27, 1945 to the proud parents of Ralph and Rose Gentry. Larry was followed by his younger sibling, Carolyn (Gentry) Pulciani. They were born and raised in North Denver and attended North High School. Larry met his beautiful Susan; marrying her on July 11, 1970. They later moved to Arvada, where they would raise their 3 beautiful kids – Brian, Bridgette, and Brad. Larry recently moved to Florida with Susan in February 2020 to celebrate their retirement. Larry and Susan were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary prior to his passing.
Larry was a devoted father, husband, friend, sports enthusiast, and entrepreneur. Larry cared deeply about his family and even his closest friends felt a part of the family. He dreamed big and never stopped working until he accomplished those dreams. His hard work through his business enterprises, Softball Country and Odds on Betting, led him to fulfilling his dream of living on the beach in “Laradise” with his wife.
Many family and friends will remember Larry’s gift to light up a room. He had incredible ability to strike a conversation with a complete stranger and one of the reasons that everyone felt like they were the most important person in the room when talking to Larry. His stories were legendary and were told so vividly that you felt a part of the experience. A conversation with Larry left you feeling better about yourself. This was truly a gift that God gave Larry and that piece of Larry will live in us forever. We will be forever grateful to Larry for bringing the light to our world when it was at its darkest times.
Larry, you will be deeply missed by your family and friends. We hope to celebrate a life well lived and we aspire to have them same impact on people that you had on us. We know you are up in Heaven sharing some crazy story and making friends with everyone that you meet. Until next time, “may the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face. And may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.”
Larry is preceded in death by his son (Brian) and his parents (Ralph and Rose). Larry is survived by his wife (Susan), children (Bridgette and Brad), daughter-in-laws (Angie and Holly), grand children (Kayla, Kyler, Beau, Scarlett, Bryson, Kayden, Jaxson, and Everett), and his sister (Carolyn).
In Larry's memory, donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital, a favorite charity of the family.
Private services by invitation only due to COVID-19 to be held at The Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary Chapel in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
