

Mary J. (Cawley) Flaherty Gilmore was born on May 6, 1938, in Tipperary, Ireland. She was raised in Redbourn, England, before moving to the United States in 1964 to begin the next chapter of her life. Mary worked for more than 30 years at The Gillette Company in Boston, where she met the love of her life, Frank Gilmore, and the two married in 1980.
Together, they discovered their beloved Marco Island, Florida, which became their cherished home beginning in 1998.
Mary leaves behind her dear cousins Sharon and her husband Peter Sherwood and their children Angela and Andrew; James O’Donnell; Anne and her husband Stephen Baron, along with their children, Jack and Katie, all of Redbourn, U.K.
She was a proud and loving stepmother to Anmarie and her husband the late Ronald Eglin of Braintree, Thomas and his wife Luz Gilmore of Boston, Beverly Gilmore Arki of Braintree, and Patricia Gilmore of Quincy.
She was a devoted grandmother to Beven, Bethany, Maury, and Leo Elgin; Matthew, Joseph (Russel), and Kimberly Gilmore; Carolyn Arki; Jacqualyn Arki; Michael and his wife Amy Arki; Steven Arki and Ashley Gill. Mary was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her tremendous joy.
Mary will be deeply missed by her nephews: Thomas and his wife Kathleen Bowes and their children Thomas and Elizabeth of Braintree, the late Donald and his wife Christine Bowes and their children Shane and Matthew of Quincy, and Michael Bowes of Quincy.
Mary loved spending her time on Marco Island where she met wonderful life long friends, especially Nancy Forest, Gayle Stoller and Pat and Roger Robare.
Services will be held in Quincy, Massachusetts, at a later date. Mary will be laid to rest with her late husband Francis Gilmore at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.
She will be remembered always for her warmth, loyalty, gentle strength, and deep love for family.
