Born in London, Ontario, Canada, Mary moved to Detroit, Michigan, after marrying her beloved husband, Deane. Together they raised their family in Michigan before retiring to Florida, where Mary enjoyed morning walks, playing Euchre at the park, spending time with friends, and embracing the warmth and community of southern Florida.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Deane, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage, and by her brother, Robert Purvis.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Nancy (Robert) and Karen (Mark); a proud grandmother to Sarah, Ryan, and Erin; sister to Larry Purvis; aunt to Kathryn (Lee), Paula, Debbie, and Rob (Lauren); and great-aunt to Keenan, Kaelin, David, and Cameron.
Mary will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, quiet strength, and deep love for her family and friends, as well as her passion for hockey and the Detroit Red Wings. She leaves behind countless cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, at San Marco Church on Marco Island, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dementia Society of America or to St. Matthew's House of Naples, Florida.
