How blessed we were to know Michele, an amazing woman and faithful friend! Her strength of character, charming humor, and generosity to all will permanently etch her in our memories and hearts. To borrow and adapt a few lines from Shakespeare, "Her life was gentle and the elements so mix'd in her, that Nature might stand up and say to all the world" this was a friend. Rest in Peace, dear friend.

Principle Novak cared about all us girls. She was known for being strict and direct but always approachable. I had not seen her since graduation in 1987. So sad to hear this news and my prayers are with her family.

Michele and I were classmates at St. Hyacinth grammar school
in the good old 1950s. I will always remember her as the smart math girl with a sense of humor.

May God welcome her in his embrace and bless her family.

Ms. Novak was an awesome principal and teacher. I cherish many memories of laughter, sternness when necessary and lasting friendships from Alvernia High School. I pray for peace and comfort, along with thanksgiving, that my family, sisters and I had the pleasure of knowing her. Rest high sweet lady. Much Love. Maria "Balogh" McElhone, class of 1986.

I have had the honor of knowing Michele for 50 years beginning in 1969 when we taught together at Alvernia High School. I left teaching after 4 years and Michele ultimately became Principal, but we stayed in touch. I became an Administrator at Cook County Hospital and in the late 1990's I recruited Michele to Coordinate the post graduate internal medicine residency program. She was so smart, capable and tireless in mastering her job despite her physical challenges. She impressed everyone at the hospital. When I retired to Florida in 2007, Michele succeeded me in my job. I was so proud of her. Mic, I will miss you and love you forever. By the way, if you ever need a caregiver, I hope you get one like Michele's sister Kathy who is an angel, so selfless, beyond competent and very caring.

So sorry to hear of Michele Novak's passing. She was an outstanding Math teacher at Alvernia. I truly enjoyed her teaching style and her willingness to work with you to fully understand the necessary material. She was extremely kind and a great friend and mentor during my years at Alvernia. She will be greatly missed.

Michele was the kind of person most of us, especially me, wish they could be like - a caring, giving and kind person who always wore a smile and had a pleasant word for all whom she encountered, no matter how she felt, nor how much pain she was experiencing on any given day. Being plagued with crippling arthritis, she never complained or bored you with details. May she now enjoy a well-deserved, relaxing, and pain free place in heaven with her mom and dad.
I know only too well that my life is richer for having known Michele since the mid sixties when my daughters attended Alvernia High School. Rest in Peace, Michele

Kathy, Family & So Many Friends,
“Mic” was the “light of life” for so many of us. We have been so fortunate for these past 36+ years to have her, Kathy, M/M Novak in our lives. So many memories of great times...Alvernia Parents Club, Haunted House, Las Vegas Nights, Courtyard Capers, Alvernia Block Party, and most important meeting so many people via Alvernia, who became our friends for life.
Kathy, you were a wonderful sister to “Mic” and as she was to you.
Memories are wonderful, but to have the real thing is better.
Kathy, via Alvernia we are family, and we will always be there for you. Susan & Kenny Ellinger
