Rose Chambers

November 25, 1922July 27, 2020

Rose Chambers, 97, died July 27, 2020 in Naples, Florida. She was born November 25, 1922, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Nicholas and Angelina Allevato. Both were immigrants from Italy.

A longtime resident of Philadelphia, Rose spent her youth in the Kensington section, and the better part of her adulthood in Far Northeast Philadelphia. Later she resided in Glenolden, PA, Wilmington, NC and Naples, Fl.

In 1944 she married Edward Chambers, then a member of the Army Air Force (now the United States Air Force).

During the Second World War, to support the war effort, she took employment in the defense industry.

A homemaker, Rose was also a talented seamstress, always ready to apply her skills, such as to a torn garment.

Spiritually, she maintained an interest in the principles of Christian Science.

Rose enjoyed walks around the yard in her Far Northeast Philadelphia home, a yard which included numerous fruit trees. Often accompanying her on these walks would be the family dogs. Her marriage of 62 years ended in 2006 with the passing of her husband Edward.

Rose is predeceased by her sister Mary, and her brothers James and Alfred.

She is survived by her sons Edward Nicholas Chambers (Marilyn) and Bruce William Chambers (Theresa), her granddaughter Ciara Rose Chambers, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11:45 AM. Oakland Cemetery is located at the junction of Adams & Ramona Avenues. Phone: (215) 743-6877. Officiating will be the Reverend Paul Andell, Pastor of Saint James Lutheran Church in the Northwood section of Philadelphia.
