Born on June 8, 1959, to Bruce and Joanne Allen, Scott was raised on Bailey Island, Maine—a place that shaped the rhythm of his life and his lifelong love of the ocean. From an early age, he was drawn to the water, growing up around the boats at his family’s Bailey Island Motel and later lobstering as a teenager alongside many of the local legends.
At the heart of Scott’s life was his beloved wife, Sandy. High school sweethearts, their love story began when Scott was 16 and Sandy was 15. They were married on February 16, 1980, and spent more than 50 years side by side—a partnership defined by deep love, laughter, and an enduring bond that was evident to everyone who knew them.
Together, they built a beautiful life and family. Scott is survived by his son, Josh Allen and his wife Heather of Harpswell, Maine, and their children Julianna, Addison, and Kinsley; and his daughter, Katie Kenney and her husband Andrew of Norwell, Massachusetts, and their children Miles and Macy.
Scott’s love of the ocean never wavered. In his early 20s, he purchased his boat, the Sandy Lee, and spent countless hours on the water. He was an avid fisherman who cherished tuna fishing in Maine and proudly participated in the Bailey Island Tuna Tournament. Later in life, he continued his passion while splitting his time between Bailey Island and Marco Island, Florida, beginning in 2001—making memories on the water with family and friends in both places he loved most.
A meticulous and talented craftsman, Scott built many homes throughout Harpswell during his career as a builder. Among them was his own retirement home overlooking Mackerel Cove,
where he and Sandy took in breathtaking sunsets and hosted countless gatherings around the fire pit, always surrounded by friends, laughter, and good stories.
Scott had a zest for life that was contagious. If there was a cold beer and live music, he was there—and more often than not, you’d find him out on the dance floor, twirling Sandy with a grin, his signature fast-moving feet earning him the nickname “Old Rubbah Legs.”
Scott was predeceased by his parents, Bruce and Joanne Allen, his father-in-law Leroy Evrard and a nephew Brant Williams.
He will be deeply missed by the love of his life, Sandy; his children and grandchildren; his sister Dawn Allen; his brother Greg Allen; his mother-in-law Jean Evrard and the many friends and family who were lucky enough to know him. His spirit lives on in the ocean he loved, the homes he built, and the memories he created with those he held dear.
