Warren was a wonderful husband and father. He served his country as a diplomat, had practiced law at the Department of Energy and served in the Army prior to that.
He loved learning languages and had a true gift for them scoring the highest ever score on the Department of Defense language aptitude test. He was fluent in Polish and Russian and qualified in Malayalam, German, and Spanish. At the time of his death he was restudying French. He read dictionaries and language books for fun.
Warren had a great sense of humour and always tried to put people at ease and make friends wherever he went or lived. He loved travelling and living overseas and had visited or lived in 16 countries.
After retiring from the Foreign Service, Warren joined the National Language Service Corps to continue serving his country with his linguistic abilities but he also just enjoyed being retired and watching the wildlife in his backyard.
He fought his luekemia with extraordinary grace and optimism. He cherished every moment with his wife, Aisling, and two grown children, Aidan (of Cambridge England) and Zoe (of Marco Island). He will be sorely missed.
We will have a memorial/celebration of his life in the near future.
