William Kirk Irvine, 83, of Marco Island, FL passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018. Formerly of Gwynedd, PA, he had been a resident of Marco Island since 1995. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Jane (nee Steinmetz), his son J. Robert Irvine and his wife Carol, and grandchildren Robert, Brandon, and Lauren. He was predeceased by his son, William Kirk Irvine, II; and his parents, James and Margaret Kirk Irvine.
He was born on January 13, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Philadelphia public schools and graduated from Germantown High School in 1952. He enlisted in the Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he was secretary and president of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. He was employed by General Electric, Aerospace Division for 30 years. After retiring from G.E., he went on to get his securities, insurance and Real Estate licenses. He was affiliated with Premier Plus Real Estate at the time of his death.
He was an active member of the United Church of Marco Island, where he served as a Deacon and as a Trustee.
He also was a member of American Legion Post #404, where he served as Adjutant; Shiloh Lodge #558 F & A.M., Souderton, PA; Veritas Masonic Lodge, Naples, FL; Araba Shrine Center, Fort Myers, FL; Marco Island Shrine Club as Secretary; Naples Shrine Club; Royal Order of Jesters; Billikin Club; Flintstones and Moose Lodge.
There will be a service for Mr. Irvine on Monday, August 20 at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Marco Island, 320 N. Barfield Drive, Marco Island.
